Windows Mobile things to come.
Some great things should be coming soon for those of you that run Windows Mobile on your smartphones. A few job postings have been found online that point to some exciting new projects that Microsoft is looking for help with. Windows Mobile 6.5 should be just around the corner but most of what we are seeing now for rumors will be things that appear on Windows Mobile 7 sometime next year.
The first thing is OTA (over the air) updates for Windows Mobile. They have always had this feature but Microsoft has never taken advantage of it the way RIM has with Blackberries. It looks like they are looking for people to work on this project and make it a reality for WM 7. Another OTA project being released soon is the Windows Mobile Market Place, this app will allow you to download programs directly to your phone from one convenient source.
There is also rumor that a Zune project is being worked on for Windows Mobile. It seems that instead of a Zune phone, there will be Zune software on Windows Mobile that will take care of multimedia features and hopefully integrate into the phone better than software in the past.
The last exciting piece of news is about Halo. It seems that Microsoft is trying to expand the Halo universe and develop a way of connecting you through xbox, web, and mobile applications. It isn’t known exactly what this means but taking Halo with you everywhere in any form is exciting to me.
